Underground City
Im thinking of building an underground city. Ill add a post if I start work on it. Any suggestions? Is it a good idea?

The only sugjection i have for you is if your going to do it do it at atleast lv 25ish or so. That way you have easy accsess to minning good materials. oh and also make a safe fall so you can get down to the town easy

For making the town look nice, remove the ore and smoothstone wall and place stone bricks around them.

Hey this is my idea from months ago. It is located at my house (/home rararawr) and currently abandoned .
The reason you can't find a post about it is because it magically disappeared. I'm not even kidding it had 90+ replies and several thousand views.
The reason it died was when right before 1.0 came around my second in command got banned and he was running the town pretty much.
And 1.0 was when it was supposed to flourish because of all the new things I was preparing for.
Never the less good luck finding a location and digging it out. Digging takes a while(unless you get a good worker like willybob was for me).
If you saw my last house, you'll know it was a large tower.
I'm making a bigger one. HAHAHA

I think you should build it. Adding tree's underground and fountains with vines will also make it look pretty cool. Also you could build some pathc ways and not make the cav completely flat. Have fun and upload some pic's when you're done!

I've tried building a house underground and it's not easy, but it is too fun not to.
Just a tip: Make a tree and food farm down there and you can practically stay underground indefinitely. It will help maximize your building time if you don't have to return to the surface for anything.
When you start this project, and I manage to get on the Whitelist, I'll will gladly help you out in anyway I can.

I love this idea and i would suggest that you dig your roof much higher than needed so that it doesnt look crammed

Yeah draconite is right, my town has 6 air spaces high (as high as we could reach in 1.8) and it does look kinda crammed. I can reach the ceiling so the reach is larger but I think make it even high to look nice. And void fog is annoying so I recommend building higher up so you can see farther, unless you really wanna find diamonds and redstone.
